Collection: Kevin Coyne
Kevin Coyne was a multi-talented artist known for his skills as a singer, songwriter, guitarist, painter, poet, and writer. Born in Derby, England on January 27, 1944, he studied art and developed a love for American blues music during his youth. After working as a social therapist and psychiatric nurse for several years, Coyne signed a record deal in 1969 and formed the band Siren. His solo career took off with the release of his powerful album "Marjory Razorblade" in 1973. Throughout his career, Coyne remained uncompromising in his musical style and gained recognition for his unique blend of blues and music hall comedy with a punk edge. He continued to create music, write books, exhibit paintings until his death on December 2nd, 2004.
Coyne's move to Germany allowed him to further explore his talents as a writer and painter. He published four books and held numerous exhibitions throughout Europe that received positive reviews. In addition to his artistic pursuits, Coyne also acted on stage in German musicals. His sons Eugene and Robert joined him on recordings later in his career.
Diagnosed with lung fibrosis in 2002, Kevin Coyne passed away peacefully at home. His wife Helmi continues to release recordings he made before his death under Kevin's own Turpentine Records label.
