Marika Hackman

Marika Hackman is an English singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Hampshire. She first emerged with a sparse, intimate style, but her records have never stayed in one place for long, shifting easily between folk-rooted writing, sharper indie rock and a darker, drier wit.

That range is part of what makes her distinct. Releases including Any Human Friend, Covers and Big Sigh show a writer comfortable changing the frame around her songs without losing their directness. Whether working in stripped-back mode or with a fuller band sound, Hackman’s music is defined by close observation, strong melodic instinct and lyrics that feel precise rather than overstated.
