Born in Houston on April 1, 1927, he began developing his talent at an early age. Milburn's style was characterized by lively piano tunes that entertained troops during his time in the United States Navy. He recorded about 125 songs over twelve years, with many of them arranged by saxophonist Maxwell Davis. Despite battling alcoholism later in life, Milburn's music continues to captivate audiences with its timeless charm.
