The Mar-Keys

The Mar-Keys, originally known as The Royal Spades, were a rhythm & blues group formed in 1958 in Memphis, Tennessee. They gained recognition as the backing band for many early Stax releases and also recorded their own singles. In 1962, the rhythm section evolved into Booker T & The MG's while the horn section became The Memphis Horns.
