Collection: The Meters

The Meters were formed in New Orleans in 1965 by Art Neville, George Porter Jr., Joseph 'Zigaboo' Modeliste and Leo Nocentelli. As Allen Toussaint's house band, they helped define funk with lean, streetwise grooves and early landmarks including “Cissy Strut” and “Sophisticated Cissy”. Later records like Look-Ka Py Py and Rejuvenation kept that rhythm moving.
