Collection: Twisted Sister

Twisted Sister came out of Long Island in 1972 and built their name the hard way, through constant gigging, lineup changes and a larger-than-life stage identity that matched their music’s shift from glam rock roots to full-blooded heavy metal. Guitarist Jay Jay French founded the band, with Dee Snider becoming the key songwriter from the mid-70s.

The breakthrough was Stay Hungry, the 1984 album that made them international stars and delivered songs including We're Not Gonna Take It and I Am (I'm Me). Twisted Sister split in 1987, later reuniting for live shows and further recordings, including A Twisted Christmas in 2006. For plenty of listeners, they remain one of the clearest links between theatrical hard rock and the anthemic side of 80s metal.
