ZTT Records, founded in 1983 by NME journalist Paul Morley, record producer Trevor Horn, and his wife Jill Sinclair, is an iconic music label known for its cult, commercial, and critical acclaim. The label's early success was attributed to Horn's big productions and Morley's innovative marketing strategies. With a team of talented artists such as *Gary Langan*, *J.J. Jeczalik*, *Anne Dudley*, *Stephen Lipson*, and *Bob Kraushaar*, ZTT created groundbreaking remixes for every track produced.
Known for their enigmatic approach, ZTT released albums with oblique wordy sleevenotes that referenced influential figures like JG Ballard and Goethe. They often issued remixes in the same sleeve as the original mix with identical catalogue numbers or mix names. Catalogue numbers were divided into four groups - the Action series, Incidental series, Perfect series, and Certain series - adding to the label's mystique.
In addition to successful chart-toppers like Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Grace Jones, The Art Of Noise, and Propaganda; ZTT also had hits with electronic/dance acts like 808 State, Seal,and Shades Of Rhythm during its partnership with WEA from 1988-1997.
