17 year old wunderkind amanda mair made her entrance last year with 'doubt' - an impressive debut that had uk and us tastemakers entranced and gave her the epithet "a swedish dusty springfield produced by kate bush". mair came to the attention of swedish label ladrador at the age of 15. she had no track record, no bandcamp or myspace and hadn't played any live shows, but she has recorded some songs with a labrador associate who - blissed out - passed them on to the label. labrador signed the teenage mair and when doubt hit the blogs last autumn it was obvious her star was firmly on the ascendant. popjustice made 'doubt' song of the day three days running and placed it at no 6 in top 10 singles of 2011. the us followed suit and she was named break through artist of 2012 in her native sweden. 'amanda mair' - the album - is a collection of ten songs, with a lyrical bite and sense of drama that belies amanda's age. the album is produced by phlip ekstrom of dream pop band the mary onettes.
