Emerging in the wake of Brazilian greats like Baden Powell and Aloysio De Oliveira, guitarist Rosinha De Valenca made her mark from the early 1960s onwards with remarkable skill and a sound rooted in pure bossa nova.
Apresentado, first released in 1963, is her debut album and a beautiful showcase for that warm, fluid, virtuoso guitar style. It is an elegant set that captures her early brilliance with real confidence and ease.
By this point, Rosinha had already built a strong reputation, joining important groups like Sergio Mendes' Brasil 65 and collaborating with Nara Leao, Maria Bethania, Joao Donato, Henry Mancini, Sarah Vaughan and Stan Getz. Highlights here include songs by Baden Powell, Vinicius, Donato, Gilberto and Oscar Castro Neves.
