Back To Pennsylvania

Back to Pennsylvania began, like plenty of great records, in the early stages of a breakup in Brooklyn. Feeling stuck, Anna returned home to Pennsylvania, back to her childhood bedroom, her parents’ backyard, and the familiar rhythms of her hometown.

She spent time at her local bar with her dad and his friends, walked the sidewalks she grew up on, and reconnected with friends whose lives followed that well-worn path of love, marriage, and babies in a baby carriage. Even with major changes ahead, she still felt static.

That shifted on a writing trip to L.A., where Anna wrote the album’s title track. What was meant to be one session with producer Gab Strum grew into 10 songs, all facing this new chapter head-on.
