Backwards And Forwards is a deluxe box set compiling five albums, singles, b-sides, live recordings, remixes, compilation appearances, and vinyl-only rarities. The set includes 112 tracks spanning Aztec Camera's eleven-year spell with WEA, featuring many tracks never before issued on CD.
Among the tracks are hits like "Somewhere in my Heart," "Good Morning Britain," "Deep and Wide and Tall," and "All I Need is Everything," as well as live renditions of the band's pre-WEA highlights. The box set also includes collaborations with Joe Strummer, Edwyn Collins, Ryuichi Sakamoto (Yellow Magic Orchestra), and Mark Knopfler.
Additionally, the set features promotional release only material, the entire live at Ronnie Scott’s recording, and a vinyl-only interview with Roddy Frame, the founder and mainstay of Aztec Camera.
Fronted by master songwriter Roddy Frame, Aztec Camera successfully transitioned from indie-darling status to mainstream success upon signing with WEA in 1984. Drawing inspiration from his record collection, Frame recorded a series of albums, collaborating with his musical inspirations and delivering emotive, honest songs that rivaled his contemporaries.
Backwards And Forwards showcases the band's five albums, hit singles, remixes, live recordings, and alternative versions accumulated during this period. Bursting with expertly crafted songs and melodies, this set captures a time when the music business encouraged genius and applauded eclecticism, solidifying Roddy Frame as one of Scotland's most gifted musical treasures.
