Basilikum

Valentina Magaletti (Moin), Al Wootton and Susumu Mukai (Vanishing Twin) come together on Basilikum for a set of expansive rhythmic music that moves freely through dub, trance, free improvisation and cinematic psychedelia.

Recorded in the Swiss Alps and London, these improvisations are built from vintage drum machines and instinctive interplay. The trio lets stylistic borders fall away, bringing together dub techniques, ritual percussion, hypnotic pulse and wide, Popol Vuh-esque landscapes.

Playing, recording, editing and transformation all feel part of the same process here. Sounds surface, dissolve and return in new forms, creating immersive, transportive music that shifts between meditation and propulsion, intimacy and scale, always evolving in the moment.
