In the age of TikTok, Bigroom and Sensual may present as much a juxtaposition as Techno and Underground. Being never the one to shy away from building bridges, DJ Gigola situates her upcoming EP Bigroom Sensual somewhere in the empty space between early 2000s technoid sounds and the harder, faster rhythm of a new generation of dancers – both of which fill big rooms in their own distinct ways.
In a series of EPs, the Berlin-based DJ and producer envisions a type of Bigroom that blends the feeling of 2001-2010 Trance Techno, minimalist swaying Tech-House and the current wave of ubiquitous high-energy sound, united by her signature soundscape and the meandering subline of her caring vocals. Caught between the lines, the launch of the Bigroom Sensual series is an attempt at reconciliation, mediating the supposed disconnect between Gen-Z Rave and Boomer Tech-House where both come best together: on the dance floor, repurposing the big room as a place of reunion.
