Birmingham Frequencies

Birmingham Frequencies, the landmark 1997 ambient collaboration from Higher Intelligence Agency and Biosphere, finally lands on vinyl for the first time.

Following Polar Sequences, Biosphere and HIA built these pieces from Birmingham field recordings captured by Bobby Bird and Geir Jenssen, turning the city’s sonic landscape into something deeply immersive.

First performed on 4th October 1997 inside the Birmingham Rotunda and released on CD in 2000, it remains a vivid late-night urban soundtrack. Narrowboat and Midpoint also appear in Peter Mettler’s film While the Green Grass Grows.

This deluxe double vinyl comes in a gatefold sleeve and has been remastered by Stefan Betke (Pole) at Scape Mastering, making it a perfect companion to the recent vinyl edition of Polar Sequences.
