Pounds doesn’t waste time. The Rochester, NY rapper of Italian descent keeps his head down, stays in the lab, and lets the music speak. To kick off 2018, he linked with West Coast producer Oh No, 1/2 of Gangrene, for the 4-track collaboration EP Borgata.

Last Supper opens the record with a blunt warning: “Run for your life, my cousin brought a drum and a knife, break my hand on your face I need a bucket of ice.” From there, Pounds stays true to form, delivering direct, gritty crime-themed bars rooted in drugs and the street life that raised him.

A “borgata” in Italy means a hood, making Borgata a fitting title. Pounds is the kind of artist who talks the talk and walks the walk, and this EP keeps that energy front and centre.
