As rock widened out in the late 1960s, brass moved from colour to centre stage. Drawing on the Victoriana psychedelia of McCartney and co, and pulling in jazz and R&B, artists like Blood, Sweat and Tears and Chicago helped shape a bold meeting point for hard rock, prog, soul and psych.

Brass Tacks follows that fertile seven-year stretch where horns led the charge.
