High above the black cliffs, Castle return with Carrie Chains, their seventh album and second for Hammerheart Records. It is packed with raw, epic heavy doom: eight tight, hard-hitting songs full of serpentine riffs, anthemic hooks, and a dark atmosphere that lingers long after the needle lifts.
Carrie Chains finds Castle sharpening their trademark attack into some of their strongest material yet. Liz Blackwell leads the charge with whiskey-throated vocals that fill every shadowy corner, while echoes of Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Mercyful Fate run through the album’s stripped-down, riff-heavy sound.
Recorded at RainCity Recorders in Vancouver, B.C. with producer Jesse Gander, the album was written alongside the covers EP Double Vision after touring behind Evil Remains. For the first time, Castle recorded live in the studio, with drummer Mike Cotton delivering a precise, thunderous performance inspired by 80s-era Black Sabbath.
