Chimère FM is a legend, a forgotten and fantasized ghost radio station transmitting since the 80s, in frequency modulation of course. This record comes from the radio playlist, and is for you. It all started in 1990, and coincided with the appearance of techno in France and the golden age of free radios (Nova, FG, Here and Now, Radio Libertaire). Chimère FM is the story of a friendship and an artistic collaboration between Nico (I:Cube) and Fred (John Cravache).
The group perpetuates the pioneering spirit of independent radio stations through its dreamlike and timeless universe. Hours of fake radio interviews and improvisations are archived on audio tape.
For this eponymous album, Chimère FM becomes a protean musical entity broadcasting a series of surprising vignettes, haunted soundtrack, field recording caught on the spot at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, homage to the “painting signed Yvette” found in the street. Everyone meets at the famous "Mainate Club" where Tom Waits' substitute performs every night. We celebrate “the applicants” in the form of wobbly funk with touching naivety. It is chimerization: “The invasion of the body by something that comes from elsewhere”.
