Conclave

Conclave is the live musical gathering led by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Cesar Toribio, where loose improvisation turns into something vivid, rhythmic and deeply communal. Their self-titled debut, Conclave, moves with the spirit of a New York City block party, balancing delicacy and power with real ease.

Led by the sold-out single Perdón, this 11-song set channels touchstones like Theo Parrish, Osunlade, Elements of Life and Nuyorican Soul. Louie Vega, alongside Josh Milan, contributed three remixes to the Perdón 12-inch, while support has come from Gilles Peterson, Ron Trent, Natasha Diggs, Rich Medina and Kim Lightfoot.

From Habla to dancefloor-ready cuts like There’s Enough, Rise, Perdón and Alati Yeye Chege, the album keeps its pulse alive. A rework of Little Dragon’s Twice underlines Cesar Toribio’s love of swing and irregularity. It’s also the first full-length release on Love Injection Records.
