Cephas Azariah returns with his much-anticipated second album, Conditions for Observing Light. The British-Indian composer, producer and pianist has long been drawn to classical composition, studying Music Theology and the Arts at Middlesex University before moving straight into composing for film and TV.
Here, Azariah takes a philosophical look at society and culture, asking where radiance can still be found in an increasingly dark world. Across ten immersive tracks, he traces light in many forms, from the energy of the sun and lightning to candle glow and artificial light.
Written between his home studio and the remote landscape of Scotland’s Cairngorms National Park, the album folds in months of recorded textures inspired by light-related phenomena, shaped into rich ambient soundscapes.
