Cristina Camargo

Cristina Camargo arrived on Brazil’s boogie scene in 1980 with Moral Tem Hora, written by the already celebrated brothers Marcos Valle and Paulo Valle. They were soon joined by arranging and production giants Robson Jorge and Lincoln Olivetti for her self-titled debut, Cristina Camargo.

The album is built around that breakout single and taps into a rich moment in Brazilian music, where local styles met the boogie disco coming out of the USA in the early 1980s. It’s full of warm choir lines, locked-in grooves, and polished studio craft.

Robson Jorge and Lincoln Olivetti brought the same sharp touch they gave to major MPB names including Jorge Ben, Gal Costa, Caetano Veloso, and Gilberto Gil. The result is a standout blend of Brazilian musical heritage and forward-looking boogie.
