Kirsty MacColl remains a hugely-missed talent, no matter how much time elapses since her tragic death in December 2000. Her sharply observed lyrics and wonderful melodies sound as fresh today as when they were written and recorded. Following her chart successes in the mid-80s, Kirsty signed to Virgin Records and made two albums – Kite (1989) and Electric Landlady (1991). Both albums were produced by her husband Steve Lillywhite, and feature a galaxy of musical collaborators, including Johnny Marr, David Gilmour, Mark Nevin, Pete Glenister, Elliott Randall and the cream of the UK’s session musicians and New York’s top Latin musicians. This annotated 4 CD and DVD media book set gathers together the two albums and seven promo videos that Kirsty made during this period, along with thirty-three rare non-album b-sides and 12” mixes. The DVD also includes the full 18 minute EPK made for the release of Electric Landlady, which features interview sections.
