Departing the Wasteland

Alexi Tuomarila, the Finnish pianist and composer, has released a new album titled Departing the Wasteland. This album marks the beginning of a new creative phase for Alexi, as well as celebrating 20 years of playing with his trio consisting of Mats Eilertsen on bass and Olavi Louhivuori on drums.

The trio's sound is enriched by the addition of Portuguese guitarist Andre Fernandes and guest players, who bring richness and texture to the music. The album incorporates electronics and synthesized moods and tones, creating a unique listening experience.

For over 15 years, Alexi Tuomarila has been establishing himself as one of Europe's finest pianists. His talent was recognized globally with the release of his album "02" under Warner Jazz France in 2003, garnering critical acclaim and attention.

Despite setbacks when Warner Jazz discontinued their jazz and classical department, Alexi continued to collaborate with renowned artists such as Polish trumpeter Tomasz Stanko and his current drummer Olavi Louhivuori.
