Originally released in 1979, this new version comes with a 12 page booklet and extra tracks. All tracks have been digitally remastered and now includes unreleased mixes of album tracks plus 3 versions of Cartrouble. Adam Ant (born Stuart Leslie Goddard) formed the band with guitarist Lester Square, bassist Andy Warren, and drummer Paul Flanagan in London in 1977. The group's approach was more theatrical than most punk groups, incorporating sadomasochistic imagery into their concerts. The band released this album on the independent label Do It in 1979. Dirk is an ambitious and somewhat dark album, filled with jerky rhythms, angular guitar riffs, and elements of glam rock crept in Adam's vocals. It is a rough diamond in comparison to later commercial hits, but it has aged beautifully, sounding as fresh as ever in displaying the influence the original ants have had on the recent resurgent interest in all things post punk. Zerox was selected by Youth (Killing Joke) for our cd - the record shop: 30 years of rough trade shops.
