Endless Waltz

Scottish musician Kay Logan (aka Helena Celle) self-released the prescient collection of oddball aleatoric bangers Copy Music in 2021, before pulling it from circulation. With the help of London imprint SWIMS, this cult album is now remastered and available on vinyl for the first time, under the new name Endless Waltz. This will be the final Helena Celle album.

Raised on a diet of industrial queer pioneers Coil and Throbbing Gristle, occultish physics (John Dee, Aleister Crowley) and Frank Zappa, Kay's work has toyed and probed at the fringes of outsider art and technology for over ten years. Her 2016 album If I Can't Handle Me At My Best... established Celle's unique sonic language of unrepeatably gnarled techno, coaxed from a bewildering array of disintegrating midi controllers, Markov chains, and whatever else came to hand.

Endless Waltz pursues this formula to its bizarre conclusion: 18 fever loops of algorithmically crumpled dance music, pulled through a cheese cloth of obscure '90s computer game palettes and pop froth wordplay. Some of these delirious vignettes evoke a rudimentary AI regurgitating Captain Beefheart scores. Others, as one fan put it, are "sort of like if 'Commercial Album'-era Residents did an album on Rephlex". Enjoy the trip.
