Record executive, producer, band manager, club DJ, booking advisor, record store manager: few people had as deep an impact on the Twin Cities alternative and indie rock scene as Peter Jesperson. A passionate music fan from early childhood, he found his way into Minneapolis’s music world in the 1970s.
From Oar Folkjokeopus and Jay’s Longhorn to co-founding Twin/Tone Records in 1977, Jesperson helped shape local tastes and the wider indie landscape. Twin/Tone went on to release more than 300 records by artists including the Replacements, the Suburbs, Soul Asylum, Babes in Toyland and the Jayhawks.
In Euphoric Recall, Jesperson reflects on discovering the Replacements, road-managing R.E.M., his struggle with addiction, and later work with Dwight Yoakam, Kris Kristofferson, Vic Chesnutt and Steve Earle across a half-century in music.
