Ayron Jones returns with Excuse Me, his first album in three years and the first made entirely on his own terms. Recorded in Nashville with producer Marty Fredrickson, the album draws on the heavier grunge and metal sounds of his Seattle upbringing: drop-tuned guitars, melancholy melodies and songs about economic pressure, anger, isolation and relationships.
Introspective lyrics pair with Jones’ formidable guitar playing, paying tribute to his hometown’s heroes. Drawing a line between the alienation that fuelled grunge and today’s increasingly disconnected world, it’s a gritty rock record for everyday people and the first album on which Ayron says he fully recognises himself.
