Nick Heyward finally tells his story in this long-awaited autobiography, tracing the rise, fallout and return of Haircut One Hundred.
In 1981, Heyward and school friends Graham Jones and Les Nemes signed to Arista. In under two years, the band landed four Top 10 singles and a #2 platinum album, Pelican West, before Heyward left.
This memoir covers childhood ambition, jealousy, sudden fame, depression, enlightenment and one of pop’s longest overdue comebacks. It also follows Heyward’s four decades as a solo artist and his later signing to Creation under Alan McGee, where he was embraced as a godfather of Britpop.
After reforming in 2023, Haircut One Hundred released their second album in May 2026. Fantastic Days finds Heyward with his highest profile in over forty years.
