Garrick Ohlsson: Chopin – The Complete Works

Garrick Ohlsson is peerless in this repertoire: winner of the 1970 International Chopin Piano Competition and, most recently, its Jury Chair. That authority runs through this set, bringing real weight and clarity to music he has lived with for decades.

Beyond the complete solo piano music, this collection gathers the piano concertos, other concert works, the cello sonata, the piano trio, the songs and more, offering every last note Chopin ever wrote. It also includes the only work here not featuring Ohlsson: the recently discovered waltz found in New York, recorded for Hyperion by Sir Stephen Hough within days of its announcement.

Also featured are the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra with conductor Kazimierz Kord, violinist Leila Josefowicz, cellist Carter Brey and alto Ewa Podleś. A genuinely complete Chopin set, and a serious one.
