First-ever single reissue of Canarios’ Get On Your Knees and Camilo Sesto’s To Be A Man, pairing two essential late-’60s Spanish recordings with serious dancefloor pull.
Led by Teddy Bautista, Canarios were among the first Spanish bands to bring emerging English-language sounds into their repertoire. They also toured the States early on, even recording an album there as The Canaries. In 1968, Get On Your Knees, produced by Swiss producer Alain Milhaud, became a global soul hit and still gets regular spins on the 60s scene.
To Be A Man is a rare turn from Camilo Sesto, whose work usually leaned toward melodic pop and ballads. Produced by former Brincos member Juan Pardo, its psychedelic edge, sophisticated arrangements and fuzz-heavy bass made it an irresistible 7" release in several countries, though not Spain.
