Title

first release from jimmie dale gilmore since his grammy nominated 'come on back' (2005). beautiful collectors edition, one-of-a-kind packaging with full xx page hardbound booklet. the wronglers are an amateur string band (banjo, twin fiddles, mandolin, guitar, bass) led by warren hellman, better known as the benefactor of the hardly strictly bluegrass festival in san francisco, a free festival now in its 11th year. they formed in 2006 and over the years they have played around the bay area, opening for the likes of steve earle and gillian welch, as well as nationally at festivals such as south by southwest, old settler's, strawberry and the folk alliance conference in memphis. jimmie dale gilmore of lubbock, tx, whose penchant for spiritual themes and cosmic considerations has led to descriptions of his lyrics as 'west texastentialism' released his first album of many in 1988. his heartfelt singing style, with its masterfully understated phrasing, is known in some circles as 'sagebrush soul,' a genre that he is credited with creating. in addition to his long, distinguished solo career, with its three grammy nominations, gilmore is a longtime member of the flatlanders which also features fellow lubbock-ites joe ely and butch hancock. for some time gilmore has been wanting to go back to a time before country music got really commercialized and he saw his opportunity with the wronglers. he and hellman became friends through hsb and they have joined forces to make 'heirloom music', an album of early twentieth century, folk-rooted country music featuring material from the likes charlie poole, the carter family, bill monroe, bob wills and the delmore brothers.
