Four original albums appearing together in one package for the first time. All recorded for Atlantic and Warner Bros. between 1999 and 2004.
John Michael Montgomery was born in Danville, Kentucky on January 20th, 1965 but was raised in Nicholasville, Kentucky. He had more than 30 singles on the Billboard Country chart including 7 No. 1s and 13 Top 10s. While appearing at the Austin City Saloon in Lexington, John Michael Montgomery was spotted by an executive from Atlantic Records. This led to a deal with the record label’s newly opened Nashville division. He was 26 years old and was promoted as one of Country’s new breed of “hat” acts that enjoyed a period of popularity at the time. He won Top New Male Vocalist from the Country Music Association and The Academy of Country Music, also the Horizon award for Best New Artist.
The first album in this collection Home To You (1999) was produced by Garth Fundis who was already well-established for his work with Trisha Yearwood, Keith Whitley, and Don Williams. The album was acclaimed for its powerful ballads, an area of music which became Montgomery’s forte.
Brand New Me (2000) reached No. 2 in the album charts and features the No. 1 single ‘The Little Girl’. John Michael Montgomery produced this album along with Buddy Cannon and Norro Wilson. Two years later he appeared on Warner Bros., the parent company of Atlantic Records with Pictures co-produced by the artist and Scott Hendricks. One reviewer critiqued his songs as “flowing by like a gentle summer breeze”.
Letters From Home was co-produced by Montgomery and Byron Gallimore and enjoyed a 22-week chart run, peaking at No. 3. The title track reflects the tragedy of 9/11 and reached No. 2 in the singles chart.
