Andrew Wasylyk and Tommy Perman return with House With A Curse, a new collaborative soundtrack album commissioned by Dundee Contemporary Arts' Dundead Film Festival. Following their Scottish Album of the Year Award-nominated Ash Grey and the Gull Glides On, the pair created a brand-new score for Rupert Julian’s 1925 film The Phantom of the Opera.

Starring Lon Chaney as Erik the Phantom, the film remains a landmark of silent horror, known for its lavish sets, costumes, huge cast and early Technicolor. Written, recorded and mixed in under three months, this score reimagines that world with piano, synths, choral voice, drum machine, nylon guitar and Mellotron.

Rooted in the film’s imagery and alive to its themes of disability and otherness, Wasylyk and Perman build something haunting, tactile and beautifully askew. From Callers Have Departed to Strangler's Noose Coils Quick and Empty Promise Open Palm, it’s an inventive alternative veil for a true cinema classic.
