Jazz Montez Vol. 3

This compilation took almost four years to come together. For the residency, the band Alexander Flood composed three new pieces, developed with the ensemble over two rehearsal days before performing them across three concerts.

The core ensemble - Lucy Liebe, Franka Fairy, Tara Sarter, Raffaelo Visconti and Nonny Smith - remained together throughout summer 2024, growing into something far greater than just a band. This compilation documents the music played by the Residence Band and the wider story of other bands we recorded while they were on tour.

Why Kai appears here after performing at Holidays in 2024. Sonic Interventions recalls the band's first concert outside Berlin at Holidays in 2023. Sasha Berliner performed at the Jazz Klub, illustrated in the comic included in this booklet. Benedikt Montiel Mathews joined the Jazz Montez project through a year-long internship and a record released together. Hind Ennaira led the successor to the Residence Band at El Barrio in 2024; her recording was made in Essaouira, Morocco, during a late-night session.
