Limited and Numbered 7" as part of the Too Pure singles Club. There are not many bands capable of instilling such a fervent crowd atmosphere that during a performance their own singer is ejected mid-gig amidst all the chaos and not even allowed to return and finish the show. However such is the incendiary nature of a live Seize the Chair show that this is the situation they found themselves in a couple of years ago, playing a sold out headlining show during Tramlines Festival in their hometown of Sheffield. Seize the Chair are an tricky bunch when it comes to trying to nail them down to any specific genre or categorised sound. They ricochet between surging, screeching garage-rock - with all the venom of some of America’s finest – to crunching alt-pop, Krautrock-tinged wig outs and angular, spunky punk. The one thread that runs throughout all these sonic explorations however is a ferocious and undying sense of energy. The four-piece (consisting of Nick Chantler, Rowan Roberts, Steven Mullins and James Freeman) have released previous singles, most notably two 7”s through the Too Pure singles club, the most recent of which being a split with fellow Sheffield pals Best Friends (Fat Cat Records). Several years of stirring gigs, including several notable hometown line-ups they have curated themselves, BBC 6Music sessions for Marc Riley, and nationwide tours with the likes of TRAAMS, Drenge and Menace Beach (who Chantler has also become a full-time member of) have all led to the release of their fierce new double-a side 7” featuring the songs Knew You'd Never Been There and Secret Sister recorded with and produced by MJ (Hookworms) at his 'Suburban Home' studio in Leeds.
