Compiled onto one vinyl album for the first time, Landlocked arrives via Numbers in 2026, collecting Hallucinator’s 1999 debut, first released on Mark Ernestus and Moritz von Oswald’s Chain Reaction. It’s a key document circling the world later tagged dub techno and the orbit of Hard Wax.
Since 1999, more has come into focus around Hallucinator: London-based writers, composers and sound designers Anna Piva, Edward George and Trevor Mathison. Their wider work includes Flow Motion, while George and Mathison were founding members of the Black Audio Film Collective.
Across 12 tracks, the album moves through subtraction, space and return, with grooves that fade, reappear and leave a powerful sense of pressure and memory. Sparse text, including “to the memory of Stephen Lawrence”, gives that silence weight. Highlights like Red Angel and Dusk deepen its haunted, deeply felt pull.
