Since his 2015 debut EP, Nocturne, Alfa Mist has moved fluidly between jazz, hip-hop and classical, shaping a sound that feels expansive without losing focus. Across six acclaimed albums, the east London producer, songwriter, pianist and MC has steadily blurred genre lines with real imagination.

On Roulette, Alfa Mist pushes further, building a near-future sci-fi world where reincarnation connects dreams and past lives, opening up ethical, moral and philosophical questions. As ever, he took the music deeper in a live-recorded session at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, first broadcast on YouTube.

With Kaya Thomas-Dyke on bass, Jamie Houghton on drums, Jamie Leeming on guitar, Johnny Woodham aka JSPHYNX on flugel and trumpet, and Samuel Rapley on sax and bass clarinet, the session captures the relaxed intensity of a live set with no second chances.
