Live at Riviera Theatre in Chicago October 23th 1995

This superb live radio broadcast, transmitted from Chicago’s 2,500-capacity Riviera Theatre in late 1995, captures a genuine homecoming for The Smashing Pumpkins. The band had made their live debut in the city almost exactly seven years earlier, which gives this show an extra sense of occasion.

The gig also doubled as a special release party for their third album, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, catching The Smashing Pumpkins at a pivotal moment. Adding even more to the celebratory mood, they’re joined onstage by local heroes Cheap Trick, who hail from Rockford, 85 miles north west of Chicago, for a unique triple-decker encore.
