Live at the Upside Down Lounge Vol.1

Joe Kaptein was the keyboardist for The Circling Sun on their second album Orbits. Holiday Records, Music First and Jandal Records present Live at The Upside Down Lounge Volume 1 by one of the hottest talents in the NZ Jazz scene.

Recorded live at Goblin in the heart of Ponsonby, Auckland NZ on 26 May 2026, the album features Hank Trenton on bass, George Brajkovich on drums, Ruby Fainaa on percussion and a special guest appearance by NZ Jazz icon, Nathan Haines (on "Intergalactic Love Song").

The album was conceptualised by Music First and recorded live (with the assistance of live mix engineer Thomas Healey) to celebrate the one year anniversary of Joe's weekly residency at Goblin - The Upside Down Lounge, and aims to capture the spirit of classic live jazz LPs recorded for the likes of Blue Note and CTI Records.
