Looking Backwards Towards the Future: The Story of Ultravox is the first authorised biography of Ultravox, written with the knowledge, permission and cooperation of the surviving core members. It’s a definitive account of one of Britain’s most unusual and uncompromising groups.
Built from extensive research and exclusive contributions from the band, their peers, label, management and close collaborators, it traces the full story: fractures, fallouts, ambition and ego, from art-school outsiders to chart-conquering heroes who always did things their own way.
Formed by John Foxx in 1974, Ultravox made three albums including Systems Of Romance before Foxx left in 1979. With Midge Ure, they scored 16 UK hit singles including Vienna, Dancing With Tears In My Eyes and Love’s Great Adventure, plus seven hit albums between 1980 and 1986. They reunited in 2008 for a final album and tour.
