Los Incas Modernos

First time on vinyl, Los Incas Modernos occupy a pioneering spot in Peruvian rock history as the first band in the country to record a full-length album. Formed in the early 1960s, they built a distinctive sound by fusing surf rock energy with Andean musical traditions.

A real landmark in Latin American music, this set captures a band pushing at the edges of what rock could be. Songs like Carnavalito and Terremoto bring electric guitars and Andean influences together in a way that still feels fresh and inventive.

The album’s success saw Los Incas Modernos share stages with leading Peruvian groups including Los Shains, Los Belkings, Los Silvertones and Los Doltons, alongside radio and television appearances across Lima, all before any member had turned twenty. This joint reissue with Rey Record includes an insert on the band’s history.
