'miami ice' draws on krautrock, whimsical psychedelia, electro, afro-funk, electric jazz and canterbury-era prog, without ever feeling like a trawl through a hipster's record collection, wrapping each song up in a crispy nugget of dayglo pop. the band revolves around chicago scene mainstay griffin rodriguez (aka blue hawaii), his shape shoppe studio and obey your brain label. rodriguez was a member of cult favourites bablicon (with jeremy barnes from labelmates a hawk and a hacksaw) and has recorded the likes of beirut, akron /family and leaf's own volcano! at his shape shoppe studio.
