Poetry is the fifth studio album by Dehd, released in 2024 via Fat Possum Records. Following the success of their previous album Blue Skies and hit single "Bad Love", the band embarked on a journey to create their latest work.

Dehd started by gathering at Kempf's off-grid Earthship in Taos, New Mexico, where they found inspiration in chopping wood to stay warm and writing songs during the daylight hours. They then moved to a cabin on the Puget Sound for their second writing camp, surrounded by the chilly waters where time was dictated by the tides. According to Kempf, the band's sole purpose during this time was to write, eat, sleep, and breathe music.

This unique experience of traveling to different locations to write proved to be a pivotal moment for the band, leading to the creation of the songs that would make up Poetry. The album was finalized back in Chicago, where the band has called home for nearly a decade. Friend and producer Ziyad Asrar, known for his work with Whitney, co-produced the album with Jason Balla at Palisade Studio.

For fans of classy garage rock, Dehd draws comparisons to bands like The Strokes, a more upbeat Velvet Underground, The Jesus and Mary Chain (sans fuzz), and Weezer, with all the hooks.
