New Dawn Rising

Birmingham rock band Dawn After Dark release their debut album New Dawn Rising on Chapter 22 Records.

Recorded in Birmingham and produced by Andy Taylor, New Dawn Rising features the singles ‘Maximum Overdrive’ and ‘Nothing Can Fulfil Me (Without Your Love)’.

The band, which was originally active in the UK in the late ’80s, released three 12-inch singles on the Chapter 22 label between 1988 and 1989. They played 150 UK shows as headliners and support to acts including Balaam And The Angel, Wolfsbane, Fields Of The Nephilim, and Living Colour. After splitting in 1991 the band was asked to reform for a one-off show in Birmingham in September of 2019, and public reaction was so strong that Chapter 22 invited the band to re-join the label more than 30 years after their last release.

New Dawn Rising features 11 brand new recordings of classic Dawn After Dark songs such as ‘Maximum Overdrive’, ‘Crystal High’ and ‘The Groove’, songs from the band’s live set that were never recorded, and new tunes.

Vive Le Rock magazine editor Eugene Butcher sums New Dawn Rising up best when he says; “Dawn After Dark have given us a huge slab of rock, full of big hooks and soaring guitars. It’s the dawn of a new age.”
