Sennen return with New Quiet, their first album in over 10 years. It is a warm, fuzzy record that sits somewhere between Yo La Tengo, Teenage Fanclub and Sonic Youth, self-recorded by the band and mixed by James Chapman of Maps.
The album grew out of revisiting their debut Widows for its 2021 anniversary reissue. Singer and guitarist Rich Kelleway says it helped them reconnect with the unfiltered joy of making music together in their early 20s, something this new record brings back into focus.
Fellow singer and guitarist Larry Holmes calls Sennen “a bit of a lifeboat for us,” with the record’s wistful mood shaped by getting older and living through a fair slice of life. At heart, New Quiet is about being in a band, making a record, and why music still matters.
