Here we have something pretty much exclusive to us and very special indeed. Noma is the second album in a trilogy (Erras being the first and Area to be the follow up) from the very talented and uniquely gifted composer Jenna Leigh-Raine. It's as unique as Jenna is by trade. Originally written and composed for film, this is Jenna's first all instrumental album and features 13 tracks constructed from a deep understanding of electronic and ambient sound design, cinematic in scope but also effortlessly easy to listen to. Jenna relates to it saying "I think it's my ode to a few loved albums such as Gary Numan's Dance and Bowie's Low". From the opening space transmission of Darkroom and Ascension you can hear all sorts of influences - from Vangelis to Eno via Yellow Magic Orchestra and even Japan. Warmsunup could easily be on Italians Do It Better and Redemption Plan 7 brings to mind a Stranger Things moment. Then there's the wonderful beatless sonic ambience of Soul Replay to the almost Jeff Mills style Decender. This is a stunning piece of work with references all over it but Jenna makes it totally unique and very, very new. Highly recommended.
