Originally released on December 9, 2024 as a digital-only single and follow-up to his hit viral single "Chicano Poetry", this time using beloved soul classic "There's Nothing I Can Do About It" by Mike and The Censatios as the building block of the production. "Nothing I Can Do" pairs Obed's soulful, genre-blurring sensibility with John Givez's conversational hip-hop delivery, creating a warm, laid-back love song steeped in nostalgia, devotion, and easygoing West Coast grooves.
In his own words; Same story as "Chicano Poetry" — I heard the original and couldn't leave it alone. I chopped it up, put my own production around it, and wrote the hook and my verse pretty fast. Then I sent it to my boy John Givez and he came back with a verse that tied the whole thing together. We turned it around quick, which to me is usually a sign a song is supposed to exist. It's a sleeper — the kind of record people find late and wonder how they missed it."
Calling Oceanside, California home, the Mexican-American songwriter, rapper, producer, and guitarist blends coastal melodies, introspective lyricism, and Latin alternative influences, drawing inspiration from J. Cole, Kid Cudi, the Beach Boys, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. A BMI Latin Spotlight artist with over 63 million TikTok post views, Padilla's latest EP, Rodeo Clown - Act 1, continues to blur the lines between faith, nostalgia, and modern West Coast storytelling.
