Open the Windows and Let the Spirits in and Out

Warm Winters Ltd. welcomes Argentinian, Berlin-based composer Ángeles Rojas with Open the windows and let the spirits in and out, originally commissioned by the Buenos Aires festival RUIDO. This release documents Rojas’s closing performance for the festival’s 2023 edition.

Performed on a Klais Opus 1912 organ with violin, cello, soprano flute, piccolo, baritone saxophone, trombone and bass clarinet spread through the space, the piece unfolds across 30 minutes. Sustained tones hang in the air as tiny shifts in timbre, intonation and beating patterns gradually come into focus.

The room itself becomes part of the performance. Audience movement and distant breaths gently fold into the music, creating a quietly immersive field where sound, space and listening remain open to one another, and where what is already present is simply allowed to appear.
