Pre-Choreographed

Koki Nakano presents his new album Pre-Choreographed through Nø Førmat! This album serves as the follow-up to his acclaimed 2016 debut Lift, which was also released on Nø Førmat! and was a collaboration with cellist Vincent Segal.

Trained at Japan's prestigious Toho Gakuen music school and Tokyo University of the Arts, Koki Nakano has a background in electro-rock as well, playing with the band Gas Law. His music has always had a strong connection with dance, with Nakano stating, "When I compose, I keep images of bodies in a state of movement up in my head. They're a great help to me when it comes to structuring each of my pieces, which develop as if they were responding to those movements."

With Pre-Choreographed, Koki Nakano takes a significant step forward in his musical journey. The title of the album, Pre-Choreographed, reflects the alignment of music and dance, showcasing pieces that range from clear melodic lines to intricate textures and captivating harmonics. Utilizing the full potential of the piano, Koki Nakano has crafted an elegant album that conveys a lot with precise and efficient means.
