Portland, OR band Obedient comes clanging and shrieking right out of the gate. No-Wave bands can often be humorless and self congratulating, but this certainly isn't the case with Obedient. Every element of the band is taunting the other to see who'll crack up first. The lyrics, while political, are never preachy and can summon a genuine belly laugh. Meanwhile, the guitar soars like a rocket over rock tumbler drums and a throbbing bass that anchors the chaos.
